"BCIC praises the excellent move by the Government for the hospitality sector", 8th May 2020

Mr. Devesh Agarwal, President, BCIC expressed the Chamber's thanks to the government on the steps taken to relax some provisions of the state excise.

He said "We are pleased that the Government has responded to our recommendations. The business of Hotels, Restaurants, and Pubs has been devastated by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Allowing them to sell their alcoholic beverages stocks will generate much needed revenue and enable cash flow to meet salaries for the staff. The Hospitality Sector absolutely needed this. We also urge the Government to allow the CL-9 license holding restaurants with bars, to operate the food portion of their business for take-away and online delivery, to help them continue their business during this economic crunch."
